UTEP cambia a ventas escalonadas de pases de estacionamiento antes del semestre de otoño

The University of Texas at El Paso announced a new parking permit sales structure for the fall semester that divides purchases by student classification rather than opening all passes for sale on a single day, according to KVIA.

The change aims to reduce congestion that students previously experienced when hundreds of people attempted to buy permits simultaneously. The university reported that the old system resulted in long queues and confusing wait times.

Under the new schedule, each sales day runs from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with permits available on a first-come, first-served basis. Graduate, doctoral, special professional, post-bachelor, and doctoral master's students can purchase on August 12. Seniors go on August 13, juniors on August 18, sophomores on August 19, and freshmen on August 20. General sales open August 21 for any remaining permits.

The system requires grade roll updates to populate classifications in the university's system, which takes place August 9 at 9 a.m.

University officials said spreading sales across multiple days will allow fewer people to access the purchasing system simultaneously, reducing technical strain and speeding up the process. Students who miss their assigned sales day must wait until August 21 to purchase during the general sales period, when supplies may be limited.
