La humedad monzónica regresa a la Frontera; el riesgo de inundaciones aumenta para el sábado

Monsoon moisture is returning to the Borderland this week, bringing a shift in weather patterns and a heightened risk of flooding by the weekend, according to KVIA.

Wednesday will see isolated showers and thunderstorms mainly across southwest New Mexico, with increasing moisture moving into the region. That moisture buildup sets the stage for better rain and thunderstorm chances beginning Thursday, KVIA reported. As additional moisture arrives, temperatures are expected to ease closer to seasonal normal, providing relief from the recent stretch of triple-digit heat that has gripped the area.

Cloud cover and storm activity will increase through the remainder of the week. By Saturday, a stronger upper-level disturbance will move through the region, raising the potential for widespread thunderstorms and heavy rainfall. With moisture levels between 1.25 and 1.5 inches, slow-moving storms could produce torrential rainfall and trigger localized flash flooding, according to KVIA's forecast.

The greatest flooding threat is expected Saturday. Residents are advised to monitor weather conditions heading into the weekend.
