El Condado de Doña Ana ofrece clínicas gratuitas de esterilización y castración en julio y agosto

Doña Ana County Animal Control will operate three free spay and neuter clinics through August to address animal overpopulation in local shelters, according to KVIA.

The clinics will run from 6 a.m. to noon on the following dates and locations: July 20–22 in Organ, July 27–29 in La Mesa, and August 3–5 in the Village of Doña Ana. Residents must live in the listed unincorporated areas of the county to be eligible.

Pet owners interested in the service must schedule appointments online and follow several requirements. Owners are limited to one pet per day and must arrive 15 minutes early. Pets must be at least six months old, fully vaccinated at least two weeks before surgery, and weigh between five and 40 pounds. Owners must provide an e-collar for post-surgery recovery and be prepared to leave their pet at the clinic for several hours. Pets must also comply with pre-surgery fasting instructions provided after scheduling.

The county listed several restrictions. Animals that are ill, injured, infected, pregnant, nursing, in heat, or displaying aggressive or feral behavior are not eligible. Obese pets, those with fleas or ticks, and animals younger than two years old cannot participate. Dobermans are excluded due to blood clotting concerns, and brachycephalic breeds—including pugs, bulldogs, boxers, and Pekingese—are ineligible because of respiratory risks.

Pet owners must upload vaccination records through the online appointment portal and ensure dogs are leashed and cats are transported in secure carriers to the clinics. Appointments can be scheduled online through the county's registration system.
