Anthony Independent School District held its annual health fair on July 17, providing free vaccines and health resources to students preparing for the 2026-27 school year, according to KVIA.

The fair ran from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Anthony High School Auditorium and typically draws more than 100 families. The district partnered with El Paso health, Immunize El Paso, and Aliviane mental health services to administer required vaccines and distribute educational materials on physical, mental and dental health.

Parents and legal guardians were asked to bring students and an insurance card. Uninsured families could receive vaccines for $10 each. The fair offered services to the entire community, not just Anthony ISD families, according to the district.

Registered Anthony ISD students could pick up free backpacks and school supplies while supplies lasted. Elementary students, who are required to use clear backpacks, had the opportunity to obtain one at the event.

Melissa Leos, Anthony ISD parent liaison, said in a statement that the fair addresses student health comprehensively. "It's so important to start off with a healthy start, prepare our students to have all those resources for them, coming in if they're needing their vaccines," Leos said, according to KVIA. "We're not just focusing on their education, but addressing all our health services for them."
