Ysleta ISD promotes tax measure through town halls
CityBeat Newsroom · October 16, 2026
Ysleta Independent School District is holding a series of town hall meetings to promote Proposition A, a voter-approval tax rate election scheduled for the November ballot, according to KVIA.
The district says the measure could generate an extra $5.5 million for "everyday school needs and keep the district's overall tax rate lower than last year," according to KVIA.
YISD has paired the town halls with performances by students and extracurricular activities, inviting parents to hear district proposals while watching their children perform. The third meeting was held Thursday at Parkland High School, where YISD Superintendent Dr. Xavier De La Torre spoke for about 10 minutes about the proposition and its benefits, according to KVIA.
Voters in Ysleta ISD will see Proposition A on their ballots on November 3.
