Texas Veterans Commission awards $1.2M in grants to four El Paso organizations

Four El Paso organizations will receive more than $1.2 million in grants from the Texas Veterans Commission to support veterans, their dependents, and spouses, according to KVIA.

The Texas Veterans Commission approved the grants in May as part of a statewide distribution totaling $40.8 million across Texas organizations. Funding primarily comes from Texas Lottery games designated for veteran support, with additional revenue from vehicle registration donations and hunting or fishing license contributions, TVC said.

The City of El Paso will receive $140,000 for transportation services. El Paso County is awarded $285,000 for financial assistance and $400,000 for a veterans treatment court program.

Project Amistad will get $200,000 for clinical counseling services. The Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) El Paso del Norte Region will receive $200,000 to support family and child services.

TVC will present ceremonial checks to the organizations on September 3, according to KVIA.
