NAMIWalks El Paso will take place Saturday, October 10, at Ascarate Park as part of a nationwide movement spanning more than 200 walks across the country, according to KVIA.

Registration opens at 8 a.m., with the walk itself starting at 10 a.m. A group warm-up will precede the main event. Participants can register online at namiwalks.org.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness provides free mental health support, education, and advocacy to individuals and families in El Paso County. Isidro Torres, NAMI's executive director, described the walk as "the largest mental health event in our region." Though the walk is free to attend, NAMI welcomes sponsorships and donations to support its programs.

"Every dollar raised here in El Paso stays here and supports all the programs we do at NAMI," Torres said, according to KVIA.

Organizers are encouraging community members to participate regardless of background or experience. The event will feature vendors and activities throughout the day. "NAMI walks is a great way to come together and show people they're not alone," Torres said.
