Live Active El Paso launches fall hiking series through October

Live Active El Paso is hosting a Fall Sunset Hike-A-Thon Series from September 10 through October 22, offering residents an opportunity to stay active while exploring the area's outdoor trails, according to KVIA.

The citywide program features hikes of varying difficulty, from beginner-friendly to moderate, allowing participants to select routes matching their fitness levels and experience. All hikes begin at 7 p.m. at designated trailheads across the city.

The hiking schedule includes four outings: September 10 at Maze and Cardiac on Jon Cunningham Boulevard; September 24 at Resler Canyon Loop at the dead-end of Cadiz and Fiesta Drive; October 8 at Lazy Cow Trailhead on Officer Andrew Barcena Drive; and October 22 at Knapp Land Nature Preserve at Mountain View and Zircon Drive.

Registration is open to the public. Participants who complete the required number of hikes become eligible to receive a prize.

Pablo Caballero, director of the City of El Paso Parks and Recreation Department, said the series aims to motivate the community to stay active while appreciating local natural areas. "It's not just about getting steps in, it's about enjoying the outdoors, strengthening connections, and making healthy living part of our everyday routine," Caballero said, according to KVIA.

Organizers recommend that participants wear sturdy shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, and sun protection, and bring water. More information is available through Live Active El Paso.
