Law enforcement agencies to conduct training at Canutillo ISD site

Three law enforcement agencies will conduct training at the Lone Star Building in Canutillo, located at 7000 5th St., according to KVIA. The Canutillo ISD Police Department, El Paso County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Customs and Border Protection will participate in the exercise.

The Lone Star Building sits near Canutillo Elementary School, Alderete Middle School and Canutillo Alternative School. Canutillo Independent School District notified the public that a heavy law enforcement presence will be visible in the area, including uniformed officers and marked vehicles.

"There is no emergency at the site," the district stated on social media, according to KVIA. "Should an emergency arise, we will coordinate and share additional information with the community as needed." The district reminded community members that the visible activity represents routine training rather than an active incident.
