La Nube gala raises $300K+ to cut admission, field trip costs
CityBeat Newsroom · August 21, 2026
La Nube STEAM Discovery Center raised funds during its second annual gala to reduce admission barriers and lower field trip costs for El Paso families, according to KVIA.
The "A Night Among the Stars" gala on Aug. 13 drew more than 350 donors and marked two years since the downtown discovery center opened. La Nube said it will use the funds to reduce admission for families facing financial hardship, support free events, and subsidize school field trips.
The money will also support hands-on STEAM learning through camps, workshops, exhibits, and other educational programs. According to La Nube, the amount raised during the gala represents 24% of what is needed to fully fund the La Nube for All initiative, which currently supports about 41% of the center's attendance.
"One extraordinary night can create momentum; lasting impact requires a community that continues to stand behind the mission," Karla Salazar, chief advancement officer at La Nube, said according to KVIA.
