Father and son visit Southwest University Park on cross-country ballpark tour
CityBeat Newsroom · August 28, 2026

Jon Manuel and his 11-year-old son Jackson have made baseball stadiums their destination, traveling cross-country to visit as many ballparks as they can reach. The father-and-son pair, who call themselves the Ballpark Boys, chronicle their trips on social media and host their own podcast under the same name, according to KVIA.
The two visited Southwest University Park in El Paso on Saturday for the first time, marking their 64th ballpark visit overall. The trip was not limited to El Paso; after attending a Chihuahuas game, they traveled to Albuquerque, New Mexico to catch an Isotopes game, which brought their total to 65 ballparks visited.
Whether the stadiums are Major League Baseball venues or minor league facilities, Manuel said the experience matters more than the level of play. The cross-country journey has become a shared passion project that allows the pair to explore different cities and ballpark cultures while building memories together.
