El Paso's Ascarate Park Pool Hosts Canine Fiesta, Launches Weekly Pup Swim Days

Dogs and their owners gathered at Ascarate Park Pool for Canine Fiesta, an event designed to give the community a final opportunity to enjoy the facility with their pets before the summer season closes, according to KVIA.

Andrea Schiechl, El Paso County's Sports and Aquatic Manager, said the event signals the start of the pool's seasonal shutdown. Dogs were charged a $2 fee to swim, and owners were required to provide documentation of current vaccinations. Owners were able to swim at no cost.

Staff from Animal Services attended the event with adoptable dogs and offered information about the department's services to attendees.

Schiechl announced additional opportunities for dog owners to bring their pets to the pool. Pup Swim days will run on Wednesdays and Saturdays from September 10 through September 27. Wednesday sessions run from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., while Saturday sessions run from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
