El Paso-based soldier killed in Jordan attack identified

The Department of War confirmed Saturday that Staff Sgt. Angel S. Rampersad, 28, of Ozone Park, New York, was killed in action during overseas operations in Jordan, according to KVIA.

Rampersad was the third service member to die in an Iranian attack on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. The Armed Forces Medical Examiner System provided positive identification of his remains.

Rampersad was assigned to 1st Battalion, 57th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 52nd Air Defense Artillery Brigade, 10th Army Air & Missile Defense Command, based in Ansbach, Germany.
