Amazon, Wiwynn expand Socorro operations, plan 1,000 new jobs

Wiwynn and Amazon held a ribbon-cutting Wednesday to mark a major expansion of the server manufacturer's advanced manufacturing operations in Socorro, according to KVIA. The multi-billion-dollar project will support Amazon's cloud infrastructure supply chain and generate nearly 1,000 advanced manufacturing positions by the end of 2027.

The expansion builds on Wiwynn's existing $1.6 billion investment in its El Paso-area facility, which was the company's first manufacturing site in the United States. The Socorro operation is projected to employ 2,500 workers next year, with plans to reach 4,000 employees once both onsite buildings reach full production capacity.

The project represents a significant investment in local manufacturing capacity and skilled job creation in the El Paso region.
